Alfalfa Hay – 1st Crop

Our first crop of alfalfa is looking good! It will be ready to harvest in mid to late May, where we will cut the alfalfa, let it dry a bit, and then bale it for hay feed. Alfalfa is popular for horses and other animals because of its high protein content.
Did you know that the alfalfa sprouts you eat in your salad is the same plant that matures into alfalfa hay? When alfalfa seeds are planted, the plants grow back every year and mature into beautiful, nutrient-rich hay.
