This tractor attachment is specifically for laying down rows of plastic (called plastic mulch) for growing plants like zucchini, melon, cucumber or tomatoes. Sitting in the seats, farmers are pulled behind the tractor and make sure the plastic lays straight and tight. A drip tube for irrigating the plants is laid down before the plastic, and then connected to a large irrigation tube at the end of the rows.
Did you know that plastic mulch helps keep the weeds and pests at bay, conserves water and harnesses heat, which helps the plants grow well? Utah crops typically mature 2-3 weeks sooner with mulch than with bare soil. Much of our plastic mulch is biodegradable and can be tilled back into the soil at the end of the season.
